Adelphe, the new ecological approach of the Domaine d’Ardhuy.
What is Adelphe?
Adelpheis the packaging eco-organization.
Approved by the State with a mission of general interest, Adelphe is a non-profit company whose aim is to develop the recycling of household packaging by companies in France. Particularly active in the wine and spirits sector for more than 25 years, Adelphe enables its clients to fulfill their environmental responsibilities under the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).
This obligation, enshrined in the Environmental Code, requires companies to anticipate the end of life of the packaging they put on the market, which will be consumed and then thrown away by households.
What is the purpose of this organization?
In 2017, 68% of packaging was recycled in France. Adelphe’s objective by 2022 is to reach 75% of recycled packaging, including glass, paper and cardboard, plastics, steel and aluminum.
Adelphe is participating in the implementation of a model where responsibility is shared between companies, local authorities, recycling actors and citizens to give new life to packaging. Each year, 56 million euros are invested by companies to :
- Financing the selective collection of packaging
- Develop actions to design more responsible packaging
- Raise awareness among consumer-citizens to sort their packaging on a daily basis through eco-responsible communication
How is the Domaine d’Ardhuy concerned?
Adelphe shares the same philosophy as Domaine d’Ardhuy: respect for the terroir and the environment. Indeed, after having obtained the certification in Organic and Biodynamic Agriculture for the whole of its vineyard in 2012. In February 2018, following difficult vintages, the Estate decided to take a break from certification in order to engage in in-depth work on our cultural practices while maintaining our values of environmental protection.
That is why we are committed to environmental certification from the 2019 vintage, for which we are certified High Environmental Value Level 3. Our commitment to Adelphe reinforces our desire to respect the environment by recycling our packaging, knowing that the objective of the Domaine d’Ardhuy is to progressively return to AB certification in the first instance, from 2023.
