A FAMILY AFFAIR

The story of the Domaine begins in 1930, when Pierre André arrived in Burgundy during the Depression, and began to build up a vineyard and create a negoce business in parallel..

In 1947, Gabriel Liogier d’Ardhuy, our father, was hired by Pierre André as an agricultural engineer and oenologist to take charge of the vineyard, wine-making and ageing of his wines.

Eliane, Pierre André’s eldest daughter, met Gabriel during the 1947 harvest : it was love at first sight for Eliane and Gabriel, who married in May 1948.

This union led to the founding of was is now Domaine d’Ardhuy. Domaine d’Ardhuy is covering : 38.5-hectare wide ownership divided in 125 plots spread out on both Côte de Nuits and Côtes de Beaune, with prestigious plots such as : Vosnes-Romanée 1er Cru, Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Corton and Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru and 3 Monopoles.

Their love also gave birth to 7 daughters, to whom they passed on their passion for the vineyards. Proud to follow in their parents’ footsteps, the sisters keep the torch alight to ensure the achievement of a viticulture that respects the terroir and its environment, always accompanied by vineyard lovers.

OUR KNOW HOW

Domaine d’Ardhuy is guided by a strong principle: to produce fine grapes and fine wines, representative of their terroirs. This goal can only be achieved through a combination of skills: meticulous and demanding work in the vineyard, punctuated by the seasons, respect for our terroirs, careful harvesting, precise and varied vinification, delicate barrel ageing and mastery of bottling. All this to guarantee quality wines and the promise of an authentic taste experience.

Managing the Domaine d’Ardhuy requires expertise that extends from the vineyard right through to bottling, mastered by our artisan winemakers on all our 125 plots and 45 appellations. Daily, seasonal work (tilling the soil, pruning, flaring, trimming, harvesting…) is carried out to enable our plots to produce beautiful grapes from two grape varieties: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

The harvests in August-September reward the patient and rigorous work of our teams by harvesting the grapes exclusively by hand as it is done in Burgundy. Since the 2017 vintage, our Œnologue and Régisseur, Vincent, and his teams have been in charge of the vinification process, which he handles with great mastery: finesse and elegance, controlled woodiness, harmony between power and tension while respecting the wine’s balance, seeking the fresh, pure and taut side and keeping the notion of the originality of the terroir from which the grapes come from.
