In Beaune, Les Teurons and Les Bas de Teurons are large plots that spread over the Montagne de Beaune slope. Their name, derived from Old French Tureau, indicates they are situated on a hill. The Old French Turel, Tureau, Thurel “knoll, hill”, probably comes from a Pre-Indo-European root *TOR “height, hill”. This noun has helped form a lot of place names in Burgundy with many different spellings: Theurot, T(h)orey, Turot.

Chardonnay selection planted on 161-49 rootstocks. Situated as its name suggests in a small, enclosed vineyard surrounded by high walls which help create a particular microclimate: the walls shield the vines from the wind and the heat absorbed in the stone during the day is given off at night.
Brown limestone on a subsoil from the Bathonian period. Typical red soil rich in clay and iron oxide which when planted with Chardonnay makes for smooth, opulent wines.
According to the vintage conditions.
South-east facing plot on the edge of the town of Beaune at the foot of the slope.
