Etymology

This lieu-dit is situated at Pommard, at the top of the slope and above the Chanlins Hauts. The presence of springs on this lieu-dit enables us to connect this name to the Gallic word AMBE “river, stream”, present in numerous water course names. The definite article L’ before Ambe or Ambot has eventually been absorbed by the name it preceded and this word may have been finally spelt in the plural: “Lambots”, for there are numerous springs there.
